Tipsy Tuesdays- Restricting Light (Gobo)

Caged

Putting a gobo on your light is not only for controlling light spills. It can also make an uninteresting wall to something more interesting.

For the photo above, I used our heater (which will be put on storage very soon) to create the effect on the background. I was primarily looking for some grills around the house but all I had available is not enough for the look I wanted.

Caged background

One thing to remember when doing this technique. The strength of the effect depends on how far your gobo is from the background or object to light and how far your light source is from your gobo. The inverse square law still applies.
