145 and 146
145 of 365
Started late, ended late then started very early the next day. Very busy this week and next week. Busy, yes, i like. I can't think of a better 365 entry though. It doesn't matter. I still have more entries to fill in and hopefully better ones.
Coming soon

The thought of quitting this project has always been looming in my mind but every time i tell her if i should stop or not, she reminds me that in 3 months, I'll have a new subject to photograph.
Can't wait.
next week's posts will be delayed. the great firewall might be preventing me to do so. but will shoot the photos. hopefully something different.

Last week, I was not able to do my TipsyTuesday for a few reasons that need not be explained.
Today, is pretty much the same. I will try to come up with new tips when time allows me to.
(Being busy is good.)
cheers!

My sister (white coat, far left)and her office mates on a "Team Building" trip to hong kong, macau and shenzen. We brought them here to see a Macau landmark and was supposed to watch a video projection but it was cancelled due to obvious reasons.

Backlogged
Here goes the past week
"First Dance"
My first international wedding coverage. The couple were my colleagues back in Hong Kong. Both of them is now based in Singapore. Their wedding was a fun reunion of friends and family. All the best Franz and Milai!
"Jon"
He is my high school classmate, cottage mate and close friend. It's been years since we last saw each other. Dr. Jon (vet) is now based in Singapore.
"Departure II"
I took this shot thinking it's a fitting ending of my Singapore trip. You can see the "beginning" here. No TipsyTuesdays today.
"Lunch!"
Celebrated our 16th month wedding anniversary with good lunch at one of our fave restaurants here in Macau. =)
"Tea Lady"
I didn't get her name. She sells cold tea beverages near our place. What attracted me to take her photo is the catchlight in her eyes. Contacts and reflections go really well together.
"Dance Room"
I was invited to shoot some video clips of her dance workshop. But couldn't resist to also take a few still images.
"Leaves"
I don't really anything to say about this photo. to be honest, i just took this for this project. But i think it's a pretty cool photo.
"Poolside"
they opened the clubhouse pool today. welcome summer!
As much as i want to write more about the past week's photos. Words are escaping my mind right now (like most of the time).
Happy new week!

Imitating Greenberg II (Tipsy Tuesday)
They say that imitation is the highest form of flattery. I agree. What pisses off people is that imitators try too hard to copy exactly the original and often times forget giving credit where its due.
Today's TipsyTuesday is not about the technical side of photography, but how I deconstruct a photo. Again, I say this often. I am no expert. I just do what I do. This might work for you. Only you will know.
When I look at a photo, usually people photo. First thing i try to find is the catchlight in the eye. That usually gives out the main light in a picture. If there's no visible catchlight in the eye then we just have to move on. Next is shadows. Try to find where the shadows fall in the photo because opposite of that is the light. Light travels in a straight line. If there's a very obvious shadow left side of the face, obviously the light is coming from the right.
Pretty simple.
Once you've figured out or almost figured it out. The next step is trial and error. Especially if your figuring out what light modifier to use. For the photo above, it is my second attempt in figuring out Jill Greenberg's lighting. I know, I still don't have it but not bad for a second attempt if I may say so. Here's my first attempt. Looking at it now, I think I have a long way to go. I will definitely try it again, but not soon. I wish I have strips, a seamless, more lights and more shooting space. Oh and a great face to shoot.
I didn't come up with these on my own. I also have read it online or in books. And I thank them, BIG TIME!
